The 2013 San Diego mayoral special election is a special election for Mayor of San Diego. The election was made necessary due to the resignation of Bob Filner on August 30, 2013.
The election is nonpartisan per California state law, although most of the candidates have chosen to state a political party affiliation.
A primary election was held on November 19, 2013. Since no candidate received a majority of the vote in the first round, a runoff election will be held between the top two vote-getters – David Alvarez and Kevin Faulconer.
