Kylie Taitano (tie • tuh • know)
I am running for Congress in the 50th district because my generation is out of time. We don’t have the luxury to depend on the half-hearted compromise, incrementalism, and inaction exhibited by our current leadership. Here in San Diego, we’re already feeling the consequences of climate change, and we’re burdened by the inexplicably high cost of healthcare and the crushing weight of student debt — all while witnessing the crumbling of our democracy.
We can’t expect the bold change we need from establishment politicians like Scott Peters who uphold the status quo by representing their real constituents: big corporations. I will not be beholden to wealthy interests — in fact, I refuse to take a single penny from them. My duty is to the people of San Diego, and to serve you will be the highest honor of my life.
About Kylie
Kylie Taitano is a San Diego-based woman in tech who has been an active resident of the 50th district for the past 11 years. She is a software engineer at Intuit San Diego and a graduate of UCSD with a B.S. in Computer Science.
Kylie is also a co-founder of Code With Her, a San Diego-based nonprofit whose mission is to close the gender and diversity gap in tech by providing real-world coding experiences to students within San Diego County and across the nation.
Born on the beautiful U.S. island territory of Guam, Kylie comes from a Filipina and Indigenous Chamorro heritage, and her upbringing taught her that community is built on respect, reciprocity and taking care of one another. These values are core to her identity — they are the driving force that leads her to put community first and work toward a brighter future.
