Nora E. Vargas is an American politician serving as chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors since 2023, representing District 1 since 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first immigrant and the first Latina to serve in the body.
Nora Vargas Vargas served as the Vice President of the Southwestern Community College District Governing Board. She was the vice president of community and government relations at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, a board member of the California State Teachers’ Retirement (CalSTRS) board, and was a Champion for Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE).
